30 Dec 2017 Spent good portion of the day chipping away at the ice in the driveway. Cleared the sidewalk, and took awhile to clear a path over the plowed snow/ice to the street. Current status is hurting. 29 Dec 2017 Everything has now changed to freezing rain, which still continues to this moment. The City is salting the main roads to at least keep them running, as there is an advisory that people should not drive. Looking at some pictures there are trees that are being filleted due to an inch of ice. Looking at our front yard trees, they are not too far off from having permanent damage. Power keeps on going off and on, as trees and power-lines keep breaking. 27 Dec 2017 We have lots of Christmas leftovers, and it's still snowing. Have no desire to go anywhere. Occasional go out to clear the driveway and sidewalk. Have sent off the green-bin and recycling, and we are now in the processes of returning to house to normal. Playing lego and Switch with the kids. Andrew plowed through Mario Odyssey in a Day. 25 Dec 2017 Merry Christmas, it's snowing here. 16 Dec 2017 I must confess, I appear to be quite terrible at doing updates. Since the last one, have worked, gone on vacation and done stuff around the house. I'm now on my winter vacation for the next few weeks. 20 May 2017 Have a week where not much is going on with work and I had vacation days. So took the next week off. No phone-calling, no work emails, and hopefully no headaches. I previously had my father tested for his yDNA, which linked up with the rest of the Skuce's as part of the Skuce DNA project. Have now done the family finder, and have confirmed a number of 4th cousins (to my father) from that line. There are many others who are either further back or I do not know how they relate. 27 February 2017 Somehow at work we've gotten onto a burnout schedule, and are now working under the old catchphrase do more with less (and less). My colleagues and I are all currently doing a countdown until April 1st, where hopeful sanity will rear its head again—pretty sure there is a betting pool on who will crack first and go on stress leave. March is looking like a brutal work month. 10 February 2017 The kids had the week off of school, due to snow. It seems we've had snow on the ground pretty much full time since December, which is odd as most years it snows one day and is gone the next. I'm thankful we have a snowblower as there were several feet of snow, the most recent of which was quite fine powder. Found that the trick to dealing with the snow is deal with it quick and often, before it has a change to freeze or turn too wet. Funnily enough I was supposed to go state side with work this weekend, canceled as well due to the snow, due to deliverables not being able to be sent and the mountain passes being closed. 22 January 2017 The Norfolk Virus has hit our house. Took out the kids and wife first, then finally hit me yesterday. Last week at work, coworkers are fine one minute and then the next they're done for. Think this is the first time I've ever had this virus, definitely hits much harder than the cold I had a week ago. 1 January 2017 It's a New Year.
